SARAH
I'm Sarah Bartnicka. I'm a writer and editor based in Toronto, Canada.
I write Milk Bag, a newsletter that feels like catching up with a close friend about the most interesting business and culture stories of the week. Airplane Mode is my travel newsletter. I fill it with high-quality recommendations sourced from real conversations, not TikTok algorithms.
My biggest career accomplishment was helping turn The Peak into Canada's most read, most loved daily business newsletter. Within two years of joining as the founding editor in 2022, The Peak sold for $5 million to ZoomerMedia. I also co-hosted Free Lunch, an economics podcast.
I have worked in-house for BMO Capital Markets and Stikeman Elliott, and as a consultant at Edelman supporting corporate clients across the U.S. and Canada, including BlackRock, the BDC, and TD Bank. I also teach an editorial writing course at Miami Ad School in Toronto.
Companies big and small work with me on high-impact projects that help them engage and connect with their audiences. I've written newsletters for The Hustle, Mercury Bank, Radical Ventures, and Royal LePage. I've also helped launch Padder, Riven, Caffinate, and DrinkU.
In the last year, I've written about how holiday office parties are out, the rise in "sober" culture, and the problem of food waste in Ontario. I recently interviewed the most prominent leaders in Canadian VC for BetaKit's Most Ambitious print edition, which will be released in June 2025.
